Each bag is made using ramit textiles skillfully crafted by hand by members of the Hanunuo Mangyan tribe in the Philippines. Ramit is woven on a backstrap loom called harablon and features intricate geometric patterns unique to the tribe. It usually takes one week to weave a panel measuring 23" x 108".

ABOUT THE MAKER
The Mangyans are a group of indigenous people from Mindoro Island in the Philippines. The Hanunuo Mangyans are a group living in the southern part of the island. Their name, Hanunuo means “true”, “pure” or “genuine,” a term that stands true as they continue to preserve ancient tradition and practices.
